I had the same problem not that long ago (except it was just the keyboard on my desktop). I ended up replacing (actually my boyfriend replaced it b/c I wanted another British keyboard) ...
What did he spill? Sometimes it just needs to dry out before it'll work again. If it was something sticky though ... well that's another kettle of fish!

Awww Jax. I'm sorry. I wish I had some advice, but I've got no experience with such things. However, I think that your creative typing abilities are very commendable and resourceful of you. I really hope it gets better soon!

You could try the drying-out-phone method: put laptop in a bag of rice. It's supposed to work.

This has happened to me more than once as I tend to drink soda while interwebbing.
I had to pop off all the keys that were affected and then clean them and the area underneath.
They sometimes worked after that.

I have a suggestion! I dunno if you'll have it on your pc though Go to accessories and see if there is a on screen keyboard on there. I have on vista but yeah i know how you feel with stupid technology , my internet died just after i came back from the hospital and i really needed something to cheer up but no it was dead . i thought i'd have to wait a week but it randomly just turned on.

sweet! I can use them together! you are my hero!
Thanks for all of the suggestions!
p.s. We watched wheel of fortune last night, (yeah, we're prematurely old) and we couldn't stop laughing because the "three consonates and a vowel" that they picked were all letters we're missing. They're sort of crucial.

gah! I've had to use the on-screen keyboard before ... I can't handle the slowness of clicking. I type pretty quickly so ... yea... can't deal w/ it, but if it's all you have to work with.

yeah enough of that.
new solution!
I found a free key transformation program online. It will take some getting used to but it is better than always using the mouse. Now all my f# keys are letters. it's weird.
Still don't have a comma though... and there's still rice in my keyboard.
